Who in the Whatnow?: A Variety Show

Shows
Dec 2012 | Feb 22 2013 | Apr 2013

Combining standup, sketch, improv, gameshow, and generally foolish elements, “Who in the Whatnow?” is DC’s most unique variety show series. Presented by Man on the Street DC, shows usually last about 90 minutes and are heavy on crowd participation, for which of course there are prizes from the infamous “Swag Box”.

The freewheeling, idiosyncratic nature of the format owes its inspiration to such successful enterprises as Un-Cabaret, the Super Serious Show, Comedy Bang Bang, Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn, the Paul F. Tompkins Show, The Gong Show, Albert Brooks on The Tonight Show, and dozens of canceled shows that aired on Comedy Central.

Semi-regular features:

  • “Meet The Audience”: A panel of comedians hastily size up audience volunteers.
  • “Yelp Me Out Here”: Dramatic readings and recreations of DC’s top Yelp reviews.
  • “Make Me LOL”: Comedians have 60 secs to make contestants laugh, otherwise they lose!
  • “New To Me”: Your fourth estate guide to the goings-on in the world.
  • “Both Sides of the Coin”: From audience-submitted topics, presenting both sides of the argument, no matter how dumb they may be.
  • “Peanut Gallery”: Live commentary of movies, shows, and commercials.
  • Live podcasts
  • Unplanned hilarity/bombing.
