VIDEO: Dog Costume Competition at Jackson 20
One of my favorite stand-up routines is the closing bit on Brian Regan’s first CD release, Live, in which the comedian details a conversation between two dogs that reveals two very bored individuals reminiscing about chasing cars. Dogs’ personalities have always fascinated me, but maybe not as much as what their owners put them through for the sake of “cuteness.”
So, when I saw a Dog Costume Competition listed on the Gregslist (no relation) event email that comes out every week, I was torn. On one hand, I thought it was made for the camera. However, I also wondered if I’d find it funny or a little too much. Dogs in Halloween costumes, walking a catwalk at Jackson 20 in Old Town. While there was definitely that, the same challenges as the pumpkin carving came into play, namely lack of daylight. Also, I was surprised that there were other media at the event.
The contest was to mark the end of the season for Jackson 20′s regular Yappy Hour, which means alot of the folks there knew each other from attending the meetup regularly. The best thing about the event was its sheer size. Thirty dogs competed, which is alot, although they’ve apparently had as many as 50 in past years. The worst thing is that many of the store bought costumes all kind of look the same, like a sweater with a hole for the head to pop out of. Still, there were some creative ideas, and for the most part, not alot of scrapping by the dogs. Our own dog is iffy with large numbers of dogs, but if he behaved himself, we’d definitely take him by this event.

Throughout the great scheme of things you receive an A+ with regard to effort. Where you confused me was in all the details. You know, as the maxim goes, details make or break the argument.. And it could not be more true at this point. Having said that, permit me say to you what exactly did give good results. Your article (parts of it) is actually really engaging and that is most likely the reason why I am taking the effort to opine. I do not make it a regular habit of doing that. Next, despite the fact that I can easily notice the leaps in logic you make, I am not certain of just how you appear to unite the details which in turn produce the actual final result. For right now I shall yield to your position but trust in the future you actually connect the facts much better.
